    Copper is crucial for vodka production. The TP2 copper trays in the column act as a catalytic surface that actively removes sulfur compounds (thiols) and undesirable congeners from the vapor. This “copper catalytic advantage” ensures the final product is free of “rotten egg” odors and provides the smooth, velvety texture and neutral profile that premium vodka demands

  • What are the key tips for cutting the "Heads", "Hearts", and "Tails" in a 5000L batch?

    With a 5000L capacity, precise fractionation is vital for yield and quality:
    Heads: Remove approximately 1% – 2% of the total alcohol volume. This fraction contains volatile methanol and acetaldehydes. Wait for the pungent smell to disappear and the palate to soften before moving on.
    Hearts: This is your premium vodka fraction. The collection temperature typically remains stable until the ABV drops to around 60%-65% (depending on your specific recipe). It usually accounts for over 90% of the total alcohol yield.
    Tails: When the temperature rises above 80°C at the top of the column, begin collecting the tails. Cut at 56%-60% ABV to prevent off-flavors from contaminating the hearts.

Periodically, a weak citric acid solution is used to clean the copper verdigris (green oxidation) to ensure the chemical reaction with sulfur remains efficient. A routine inspection of the tri-clamp gaskets and seals is also recommended to prevent leaks
