A 90° screw conveyor is a mechanical grain transfer device that uses a rotating helical screw flight inside an enclosed tube to lift bulk grain materials vertically from floor level to an elevated discharge point. In a brewery production line, it is typically positioned between the grain storage area and the mill hopper or mash tun inlet, eliminating manual grain shoveling and enabling consistent, controlled grain feeding into the brewing process. All grain-contact parts — including the screw flight, conveying tube interior, inlet hopper, and discharge outlet — are fabricated from food-grade SUS304 or SUS316 stainless steel. The stainless steel construction prevents corrosion from grain moisture and organic compounds, meets commercial food and beverage processing hygiene requirements, and maintains structural integrity during continuous high-load operation. The inner tube surface is polished or brushed to minimize grain adhesion and simplify cleaning between production runs.

The enclosed stainless steel conveying tube and screw assembly can be partially or fully disassembled for periodic deep cleaning and inspection. Between routine production runs, residual grain and dust can be removed by running the conveyor empty at the end of each transfer cycle, followed by manual brushing or compressed air flushing of the tube interior. The smooth stainless steel surfaces minimize grain residue buildup. Routine maintenance focuses on gear motor lubrication checks and screw flight inspection for wear — both of which can be performed without specialized tools. Specific maintenance intervals and cleaning protocols are provided in the equipment manual supplied with each unit.
